RainCoast Environmental Services provides senior permitting, regulatory, environmental, and engagement leadership for mining and exploration projects across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.
Founded by Katsky Venter after nearly two decades working in Canada's North, RainCoast was built on a simple idea: clients should have direct access to experienced senior professionals who provide practical advice, responsive service, and clear accountability throughout every stage of a project.
Today, RainCoast partners with mining and exploration companies to navigate complex regulatory processes, lead permitting and engagement programs, coordinate technical specialists, and help projects move forward with confidence.
Every project is different.
Rather than applying standardized solutions, RainCoast develops practical strategies tailored to each project's objectives, jurisdiction, regulatory requirements, and level of environmental and social risk.
This includes identifying permitting risks early, ensuring technical programs are appropriately scoped, coordinating specialist consultants, and developing efficient permitting and engagement strategies that support successful project advancement.
RainCoast believes successful permitting is built on practical advice, sound judgment, and productive relationships—not simply producing more reports.
Founder and Principal Consultant Katsky Venter, MSc brings 19 years of experience supporting mining and exploration projects throughout Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.
Katsky has held senior environmental and regulatory leadership roles within both industry and consulting, leading permitting, engagement, compliance, and environmental management programs for projects ranging from grassroots exploration to major mining operations.
Clients work directly with Katsky throughout every project and value her practical, risk-based approach, collaborative working style, and ability to develop strategies that are both regulator-ready and aligned with project objectives.
RainCoast combines senior project leadership with a small team of experienced environmental and engagement professionals providing ongoing support in permitting, engagement, regulatory coordination, compliance, and project management.
The team is complemented by a trusted network of specialist associates in disciplines including fisheries, aquatic sciences, archaeology, facilitation, and environmental sciences. This flexible model allows RainCoast to assemble project teams tailored to each client's needs while maintaining consistent leadership, accountability, and quality.
